Eagle Bond 2026
How does Eagle Bond 2026 help Jefferson Elementary?
Dear Jefferson Elementary Families and Community Members,
I am writing to share information about the April 7th bond issue and what it means for our beloved Jefferson Elementary. Since 1906, our school has been a cornerstone of this community, and while we've made improvements over the decades, Jefferson remains one of the oldest schools in our district. Our dedicated teachers and support staff work tirelessly every day to provide an exceptional education for our students, and our parent and community partners show up with incredible commitment and care. Thanks to the district's 2025 investment of capital reserves, we have a classroom addition and much-needed upgrades currently under construction. Now, we're asking our community to help us complete this important work through a no-tax-rate increase bond issue that will benefit Jefferson and six other older elementary schools across our district.
The proposed improvements address our most pressing needs: safety and space. Currently, we have just 17 parking spaces and limited areas for safe student drop-off and pick-up, creating congestion and safety concerns twice daily. The bond would allow us to acquire .76 acres of additional property, install protective bollards with a street closure, create drop-off and pick-up lanes for 60 vehicles, and expand parking to over 50 spaces. Classroom finishing renovations will bring our learning spaces up to modern standards, ensuring our students have the same excellent educational environment as those in the district's newer schools.
Our teachers, staff, students, and families deserve a school environment that matches their dedication and potential. This bond issue represents a partnership between the district and our community to finish what we've started, and to create a Jefferson Elementary that honors its rich history while preparing our students for a bright future.
With gratitude and pride,
Principal Josh Thompson
